Quotes from the field

"Nepal is a magical country. Rich in culture, language and spectacular mountains! You will have so much fun volunteering at our worthwhile community projects, interacting with locals and the best part is that you know that you’re are making a difference" Ruth Malthouse, June 2012, GVI Nepal Country Director

"It [Nepal] is an eye-opening experience; one that expanded not only my knowledge of culture and people, but increased my own awareness of my capabilities, passions and what I can do with my life. Seeing a beaming smile, receiving a genuinely loving hug, or just laughing for no reason wiped away any feelings of discomfort or struggles. It is an experience that opened up a new and different side of me, a new aspect of my identity that I would have never seen sitting in the comfort of my home. Living and working in Nepal taught me what no book, movie or even a person can teach me at school, and that- is worth paying for." Zarina Madan, June 2012, 4wks Childcare Nepal Volunteer

"I would definitely recommend GVI because GVI cares a lot and tries to make you feel good and comfortable in every situation. All the local people had a big impact on me because their culture is just so different and therefore it was so interesting talking to all the people. Especially my host dad had a big impact on me because I just love him and his family and how they made me part of their family. It is probably harder in the beginning than one could think, but don't give up because if you try you will not regret it." Clara Scheuring, July 2012, 4wks Childcare Nepal Volunteer

"If you are craving travel and haven't experienced another culture than this program will be an awesome adventure for you. Nepal is an amazing country with a wealth of happiness and culture rather than money or materials. For my first time volunteering it was a great experience and was also very stimulating working with children all day. It made me want one of my own." Brendan, August 2012, 10wks Childcare Nepal Volunteer
