The Royal Trek – Altitude 1,260m

DAY TO DAY PLAN
Day 1: Pokhara-Chisapani – approx. 6-7hrs trek – altitude 1,260m
Morning rendezvous in Pokhara at Himalayan Encounters’ Base Camp for a hearty breakfast. Afterwards we are dropped by vehicle at the start point of our trek. The trail leads away from the bustle of urbanisation up into the foothills of the Annapurna Range. Already one has a real sense of space and clear air and soon we attain heights which offer views down to Rupatal Lake, and up to Machhapuchare (Fishtail) and the entire Annapurna range. Overnight is in the charming village of Chisapani with its tiny Buddhist Monastery. Our campsite is surrounded by trees and a short 2 minute hike up the hill brings us to a ridge from where the full vista of the Annapurnas presents itself.

Day 2: To Lipiyani – approx. 5-6hrs trek – altitude 1,100m

We’re within sight of the same mountains yet the views constantly change. The mighty Annapurna II, Manaslu and Lumjung loom large, and our love affair with Machhupuchare continues. Tracks make for relatively easy climbing and hiking – though little is every really ‘easy’ when trekking in Nepal. Overnight campsite at the small village of Lipiyani.

Day 3: To Pokhara – approx. 5-6hrs trek

An early morning wake-up call. The sun, rising in the east, strikes the mountain peaks, turning each in turn pink and gold. It’s a breathtaking sight. After breakfast we descend (2 hrs approx.) to reach the area between Rupa and Begnas Lakes; to reach rice paddies and easy walking. We pause for lunch at Sundaridada then rejoin our transport for a short ride (1 hours approx.) back to our Pokhara Base Camp. End of Expedition.
